Handshake F. Douglas Williams FSRS, FIOP, FEI, AIMECHE, FCA has been the Chief Executive Officer of the Alsigns group from its first inception as Surelite Ltd in 1982.
 

Douglas and his father George Frederick Williams started a fire laboratory at Warrington, Cheshire in 1962, called Warrington Research Centre [later Warrington Fire Research Centre], which attained recognition by the Fire Research Station, Boreham Wood, and the British Standards Institution, among others, as a centre of excellence and by the building industry as the core tester, researcher and certifier of building products world-wide.

Once consultant to UKAEA/BNFL, Douglas travelled widely in Australia, Canada, Africa and the UK in connection with nuclear matters and industry which consolidated his field experience in design solutions at construction sites. He later formed hazard evaluation connections and in association with UCLA (California USA), founded the Safety and Reliability Society Limited (SARS) in Southport, England [now in Manchester]. The Society is prominent in "big-bang" hazard analysis and Douglas remains a founder fellow of the Society.

Douglas Williams has lectured at Bristol, Cranfield and Bradford Universities and is the former Chairman of Technology Transfer Services Limited through a joint holding with that university. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Petroleum and has been accepted as an affiliate member of the Chartered Institute of Mechanical Engineers.

Further, he is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and has served in his own businesses continuously throughout these periods, currently as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Alsigns-Surelite Limited, which is the holding company of Alsigns [Best-Surelite] Self Powered Limited.
